How Mama Knew She Needed Worm Out
Learning about parasites can turn into the proverbial “wormhole” where you just keep researching and researching. I honestly find it all fascinating and hope that more widespread studies are conducted on parasites and their health implications.
Last week I shared my 5-year-olds symptoms with you and a bit about discovering he had Pinworms. During my research process before we found the Pinworm, I became convinced that parasites could be involved in some of the health issues I was facing. I did find some pinworms in my stool during his infestation so I knew at least I had those.
I’ll back up a bit for you.
I’ve been sick a long time
In all honesty, I haven’t felt healthy since I was in middle school. I didn’t realize how bad I felt until I started feeling better. When I was in high school chronic headaches, joint pain and major digestive issues began. I figured it was how I was and never thought much about it. In college, I became extremely ill on 3 different occasions and twice had doctors tell me they’d never seen someone with so many different infections at once. I would regularly get strep, pink eye, ear infections and sinus infections at the same time. In addition to joint pain that stopped me in my tracks, recurring nausea and diarrhea, 24/7 headaches and menstrual cramps so bad I had a doctor’s note to miss school. During my senior year of college, I saw over 10 doctors and they all said it was stress-related and would pass when life calmed down.
Fast forward a year to me as a newlywed with an amazing job and was extremely ill. Eventually, I got some answers. I was diagnosed with celiac, chronic fatigue syndrome and hypothyroid. Going gluten free helped a bit but not much. For the few year chronic headaches, joint pain, eczema, chronic nausea and a number of other symptoms plagued my life. I have since been diagnosed with multiple autoimmune diseases, spent time in the hospital with a bad case of mono and worked with lots of holistic practitioners trying to find relief.
Knowledge is power
Then this research began. I discovered the Epstein-Barr virus (the virus that causes mono) can lay dormant in a body for years and can come from parasites. Two of the autoimmune diseases I have are also linked to this virus AND to parasites. My chronic digestive issues, joint pain and headaches are also linked to parasites. I had almost every symptom of parasites that I found in my research. I have been underweight my entire life- (I was born tiny at 2lbs 14oz) and have tried everything to gain weight and it never happened. (another symptom of parasites)
I could easily write a multi-week series on my health struggles over the last decade. So many of these health issues could have their roots in a parasite. Now obviously I’ll never fully know the “root cause” for all of my health issues. It could have been parasites, food allergies, leaky gut, stress, adrenal fatigue, antibiotic overuse in my childhood, or any number of other causes. I’m curious and wish I could know exactly. Most likely I have had some sort of parasite for quite some time in addition to a combination of other factors. I became extremely ill on a trip to Eastern Europe in 2004 and wouldn’t be surprised if I picked something up then.
Worm Out has helped immensely
What I do know is that in July we took our son to Disneyland. I had been dealing with health problems before the trip and we almost canceled due to my health. I was halfway through the Worm Out protocol and felt better than I had felt in decades. My husband and I celebrated our 10th wedding Anniversary in May, during my second round of Worm Out he said that I’ve never had such clear skin, even thinking, such a balanced mood or gone so long without having some sort of health issue in our entire marriage.
In future posts,m I’ll share more about what the actual Worm Out process was like for us and how we’re doing now!
I’m a blogger, not a doctor, and I don’t want this to be viewed as medical advice. I’m simply sharing my experiences and observations with you. If you believe you have a parasite please visit with a trusted practitioner.
