Herb of the Day: Top 6 Herbs for Women’s Health Week!
Women’s Health Week starts tomorrow so we thought this would be a good time to introduce you to some of our favorite herbs for Women’s Health. Herbalists have been using herbs for centuries to help with things such as: menstrual difficulties, infertility, pregnancy support, cramps, and breastfeeding.
In no particular order here are our Top 6 herbs for Women’s Health:
#1- Cramp bark- as the name suggests, this is a popular herb for use with menstrual cramps! (We always get a little bit excited when the name actually coordinates to something about the herb itself.) We use it in our Female Formula
#2- Nettle– This is an extremely nutrient rich herb. Nettle is often suggested as a daily tonic for women to help build the blood and provide easily assimilated nutrients to the system.
#3- Motherwort– Another great herb that correlates to the name! Some herbalists say that motherwort is the very best herb for the uterus available.
#4- Black Cohosh– This beautiful plant is best known for menopause and uterus support. At TriLight we add black cohosh to our Start Up labor formula.
#5- Red Raspberry leaf– Most likely the most famous herb for women’s health. Red Raspberry leaf is commonly used as a tonic before conception and as an excellent source of nutrients and support for the uterus after pregnancy. Even women who are not pregnant benefit from the high vitamin and mineral content of this herb. This herb is found in several TriLight products!
#6- Blue Cohosh– traditionally used with false labor, to prevent miscarriage, and to assist dilating the cervix. It is also used as a uterine stimulant and for toning and inflammation. We use this herb in Hem Halt, Labor Prep, Start Up, and Female Formula.
