Herbal Breastfeeding Support
Many people refer to the first few months after a baby is born as the “4th Trimester.” This is the period in which you are both adjusting to life together, getting used to new sleep schedules and finding a rhythm with the new change for your family. This time can be overwhelming between all the sleep deprivation, diapers, visitors, diapers, feedings, diapers, diapers, diapers
As part of our Pregnancy formulas, we include two formulas specifically for breastfeeding moms. These are formulas many of our mamas find themselves needing during that “4th-trimester” phase or any phase of their breastfeeding journey. These formulas were created by the incredible Shonda Parker and are two formulas that a nursing mother should never be without.
MegaMam was created specifically to help boost breast milk production. It contains herbs commonly used to help boost milk supply and aid relaxation. Being a Mama can be STRESSFUL and exhausting. This can hinder breast milk production. This specific blend not only contains herbs which can calm a Mama down, it contains herbs to help give the milk a little boost. Most of our Mamas say they see results within 24 hours. The blend also tastes wonderful and can be added to water to be enjoyed as a tea or taken directly in the mouth.
Mastitis is something no Mama ever wants to have. It is a breast infection that can land a woman on bed rest for 7-14 days! It’s extremely uncomfortable and makes breastfeeding difficult. Generally, it begins as a warm red area on one breast. A slight fever may be present along with abnormal fatigue, and flu-like symptoms. Roughly 30% of women will have mastitis at one point while nursing. Mastitix is here to help. The combination of herbs in this blend is known to help with breast infection and clogged milk ducts. This is a blend to have on hand for every nursing Mama- it’s one we hope you don’t have to use but is good to have on hand in case you do!
- Mastitix can be used every 2 hours during the acute infection phase
- Nurse the affected breast at least every two hours
- Drink at least 8oz of water an hour
- REST (this is not optional) Allow yourself to sleep, rest and snuggle your baby! Most cases clear within 4 days
- Compresses- some women like cold and some like warm. See what feels best to you.
It is important to make sure you’re working with a La Leche League leader or lactation consultant if you’re having breastfeeding difficulties. Make sure to confirm with them prior to starting on any sort of lactation support. Many mothers assume they have low milk supply but do not. If you find yourself getting mastitis frequently, you may be dealing with an issue such as poor latch and could use some extra support. Many midwives and doulas are also certified to help with breastfeeding support. Breastfeeding doesn’t always come easy, don’t be afraid to reach out for support.
