When you hear the word “Catnip” the first thing to cross your mind is likely the stuff that makes cats go crazy. Ironically, this herb has the opposite effect on humans and is known to be very calming. Catnip, a member of the mint family, has been used for centuries as an herbal remedy for a long list of ailments and is still just as useful today!

Catnip (Nepeta cararia) is often overlooked in the garden. While many dislike its fragrance it is known to be very good at attracting honeybees, birds, and butterflies. It also blooms for extended periods and has been known to bloom continuously for over 100 days. It’s very hardy and can grow in almost any soil.

Keep in Mind

It is recommend pregnant women avoid Catnip. It is said to stimulate the uterus and should be used with caution.
